Hi, I’m Anna, the founder of Vacatime. My journey to creating this brand is deeply personal, born out of love, struggle, and a relentless pursuit of health for my family. It’s a story I hope will resonate with you, because clean air isn’t just a luxury—it’s a right we all deserve.
As a mother of two beautiful daughters, aged 7 and 4, my life has been a constant battle against asthma. Both my girls inherited my sensitivity to poor air quality, and their tiny lungs have struggled to breathe freely in a world filled with invisible threats. My husband, too, suffers from severe allergies, while my father’s lifelong smoking habit has left his lungs fragile and compromised. Our home, which should have been our sanctuary, often felt like a minefield of dust, allergens, and unseen pollutants. We were plagued by questions: Was the air we breathed every day making us sick? Were the headaches, the coughing, the endless discomfort caused by something as simple as the air around us?
So, I embarked on a mission. I dove headfirst into research, learning everything I could about indoor air quality. I consulted experts, read scientific studies, and experimented with prototypes. It wasn’t easy—balancing the demands of motherhood with the complexities of product development was a challenge—but my family’s health was worth every sleepless night. Finally, after months of hard work, we created our first air quality monitor: a sleek, user-friendly device that could measure CO2 and PM2.5 levels in real time. It was a breakthrough moment. For the first time, we could see the invisible threats in our home and take action to protect ourselves.
The impact was immediate. Our monitor alerted us to dangerous spikes in air pollution, allowing us to ventilate our home, adjust our habits, and breathe easier. It wasn’t just a device—it was a lifeline. I felt a profound sense of pride knowing that I had created something that could safeguard my family’s health. But as I shared our story with others, I realized we weren’t alone. So many families were struggling with poor air quality, each facing their own unique challenges. Families with basements worried about radon gas. Hobbyists with 3D printers were exposed to harmful VOCs. New homeowners grappled with formaldehyde from fresh paint and furniture. The list went on.
Today, Vacatime is more than just a brand. It’s a promise. A promise to empower families with the knowledge they need to protect their health. A promise to fight for clean air, because no one should have to sacrifice their well-being for the sake of ignorance. And a promise to never stop innovating, because the air we breathe is too important to take for granted.
At Vacatime, we believe in knowing the air, so you can live in the clear. Because when you can breathe freely, you can live fully. And that’s a gift worth fighting for.
Thank you for joining us on this journey. Together, let’s make every breath count.
